INTRO CAGE PHOTOS SIZES ORDER

Imagine having a large iguana cage that can be assembled and disasselbled by a single person with no tools in less than two hours. Being able to fit a whole 4 foot deep, eight foot wide, six foot tall cage in a single duffle bag. And to have all this in an easy to clean and aesthetically pleasing cage which maintains heat and humidity well.

While originally designed as an iguana cage the dimensions of this rectangular cage can be changed to accommodate the needs of most lizards.

Wall Materials:

Why fabric you may ask? Won't the lizard tear right through it? These are common questions and needs addressing. Yes some fabrics are susceptible to being torn through by the lizard's claws, however, I have not had the slightest problem with this. I have now housed an adult male green iguana in one of these cages for four years and never once has he scratched a hole in a wall or seam.

The key is a heavy canvas is pulled taught forming the wall. By not having slack areas there is no singular point for the iguana to grip to create a weak point in the canvas. Further more, the canvas used is tightly woven flat using strong fiber medium which in itself is a strong and durable cloth commonly used in applications not dissimilar to a cage -- such as duffel bags and large tents.

The fabric also creates a solid wall to help maintain the temperatures and humidity needed by so many lizards. Air flow is greatly slowed through the cage so as to stop the drafts which so often rob mesh cages of heat and humidity. But, unlike a glass or plastic cage, the canvas of the walls will allow for slow air exchange and moisture transfer keeping the cage from becoming stagnant.

Unlike ridged cage building media the canvas of the walls and ramps is cleaned as simply as a load of laundry. There is no need to sand and repaint then allow to dry for a week or use harsh chemicals within the living quarters of the pet

Some Background

Being a college student with an adult iguana I needed a cage which could securely house a 9 year old male but also fit into my car with space left over for other stuff. Originally I obtained the predecessor Big Jungle Gym cage and crudely covered it with mesh and plastic tarps for insulation. Over time I revised my design and found other materials to use to the point where I now have a simple cage which is easy to construct, pleasing to the eye, and comfortable for my pet.
