Description: Install the front frame for the doors (which will be installed next) Material List:
Measure and cut your aluminum channel to make a frame around the entire front of the enclosure. The edge of the aluminum channel should be flush with the rough edge of the side wall panels and leave a 3/4" gap between the channel and the top (for clarification, see how the front panel will fit between the top lip and channel when completed) Secure with 3/4" screws This is one of the corners, cut with my mitre box Measure and rip two 8" melamine shelves to make up the front side panels. The combined width left over should match the glass door unit installed in the next section. In my case, to obtain an opening 59.5 inches wide, I ripped both shelving pieces down to 5.5" each and installed them in the 70" opening raw wood side in. I then cut to length, the 10" wide piece of shelving and placed it between the previous two ripped down panels, securing it to the aluminum channel with #8 screws. Cut your oak trim to length and mount with screws, flush with the front panels created above (see below) These form the frame for the sliding doors and stiffen the support structure. Cut the side pieces of trim so when they are mounted, they terminate 2.5 inches from the habitats roof - that part will be explained in the next section (see picture above) More Detail of how the oak trim goes together
Construction Time : About 2.0 Hours
